What to expect for

Surgery day

If you choose sedation, you'll be in a twilight state — relaxed, minimal awareness of the procedure. You'll see temporary teeth in place when it's over. Someone needs to drive you home. Plan to rest for the remainder of the day.

First 48-72 hours

Swelling peaks around day 2-3 (ice packs help). Pain is managed with prescribed medication — most patients describe it as manageable, not severe. Soft foods only. Some bruising is normal.

First 2 weeks

Swelling subsides. Diet gradually expands from liquids to soft foods. Most patients return to work within 3-5 days of surgery. Follow all post-surgical instructions carefully — this period is when your implants are integrating with bone.

Recovery/ AfterCare

During healing (4-6 months)

Your temporary teeth function well but aren't as strong as the final ones. Avoid very hard or crunchy foods. Don't skip follow-up appointments — we monitor healing closely. If you smoke, this is the most important time to stop — smoking during healing dramatically increases failure risk.

After final teeth

Your fixed teeth function like natural teeth. Brush twice daily, use a water flosser to clean under the prosthesis, and keep regular 6-month checkups. With proper care, All-on-4 implants can last 15-25+ years. The prosthetic teeth may need replacement or repair after 10-15 years.
