Does gum reshaping hurt?
Not during the procedure, because the area is numbed. Afterwards the gum is tender for 3 to 7 days, and simple pain relief is usually enough. Laser reshaping is usually more comfortable than surgical reshaping.
Will the gum grow back?
Usually not, when the bone under the gum is at the right level. If the bone sits too close to the new gum line, the gum can creep back, which is why we check the bone with an X-ray first and add crown lengthening when it is needed.
Is laser better than surgical reshaping?
