Root Canals: Why the Thing You're Scared Of Already Happened
The pain you fear from a root canal already happened. Here is what the treatment really does, and the one step that decides how long your tooth lasts.
Missing teeth change more than your smile. Chewing shifts to the other side. The bone under the gap starts shrinking within months. Neighbouring teeth begin tilting into the empty space. Dental implants solve this by replacing the tooth and the root — a titanium post that fuses with your jawbone and holds a crown on top.
At Smile Dental Kondapur, we see three common situations: patients who had an extraction and are now deciding what to do with the gap, patients living with an old bridge or denture that's become uncomfortable, and patients who've just been told they need an implant and are comparison-shopping.
The treatment runs across 3 to 4 visits over 4 to 6 months. Here's what each stage looks like:
Visit 1 — Consultation & planning (₹500 + ₹200 for IOPA X-ray, or ₹500 for OPG): Dr. Varsha examines the site, reviews your X-rays, checks bone density, and discusses which implant system fits your case. You walk out with a written plan and exact costs before anything is booked.
Visit 2 — Implant placement (60-90 minutes): The titanium post is placed into the jawbone under local anaesthesia. Most patients report less discomfort than they expected. You go home the same day.
Healing phase (3-6 months): The implant fuses with bone — a process called osseointegration. No activity restrictions; you eat normally on the other side.
Visit 3 — Abutment & impression: Once the implant is stable, we attach the connector and take a digital scan for your crown.
Visit 4 — Crown fitting: Your custom crown is placed. You leave with a functioning tooth.
Implant cost depends on two things: the implant brand and the crown material. Here are our actual prices:
Implant (titanium post) only:
Crown on top of implant (screw-retained):
Total single tooth implant + crown: ₹45,000 at the entry level (ADIN + MLS) to ₹88,000 at the premium end (Nobel Active + Zirconia). Most of our patients land in the ₹55,000-₹70,000 range.
Bone grafts, sinus lifts, or ridge augmentation — if needed — are billed separately. We tell you during consultation, not after starting.
Active chair time across all visits is roughly 3 hours. The calendar timeline is 4-6 months, mostly waiting for bone to heal around the implant. For patients with adequate bone density and good oral health, same-day implants (immediate loading) are sometimes possible — Dr. Varsha will tell you during the consultation if you're a candidate.
Three reasons come up repeatedly in patient feedback. First, we quote the full cost — implant plus crown plus any grafting — before starting, not halfway through. Second, we work with six implant systems, so we recommend based on your bone and budget rather than pushing whatever we stock. Third, Dr. Varsha takes the time to show you your own X-rays and explain what she's seeing, so the decision is genuinely yours.
The clinic is on Masjid Banda Road, behind the Coffee Day building — a 10-minute drive from HITEC City, Gachibowli, and Madhapur.
