What it's like to live with
When people hear "implants for the whole mouth", many picture 28 screws and a year of surgery. That picture stops a lot of people from even asking.
The question that mattered
Could each jaw hold a full set of fixed teeth on just 4 implants?
What we looked at
The bone in each jaw. The back of the jaw often has less bone, with the sinus above and the nerve below.
What we decided, and why
Two straight implants at the front and two angled at the back, in each jaw. Tilting the back implants lets them reach firmer bone further forward, so a full row of teeth can sit on four.
What we did
The implants were placed, and a full fixed bridge of teeth was fitted on each jaw.
What you see now
The X-ray shows 4 implants in each jaw. The photo shows the fixed teeth on them.
What this means for you
If you're missing most of your teeth, ask how many implants your jaw actually needs. The answer is often fewer than people expect.
Every mouth is different. Your plan depends on your own scan.
These photos were taken during surgery. Some show blood.
Questions people ask
How many implants does a full jaw need?
Often 4 to 6. Your scan decides.
Why are some implants placed at an angle?
Angled back implants can reach firmer bone and stay clear of the sinus and the nerve.
Are the teeth removable?
No. They are fixed on the implants.
