The short answer: the materials used for veneers and bonding today are all metal-free and well tolerated by the body. The real choice is between how long you want the result to last, how much natural tooth you are willing to have shaped, and your budget.

The options compared

Composite bonding or composite veneers: ₹3,000 to ₹6,000 per tooth

Tooth-coloured resin is shaped directly onto the tooth in one visit.

  • Good: same day, no enamel removed, reversible, easy to repair or adjust later.
  • Trade-off: lasts about 3 to 7 years and can pick up stains from tea and coffee.

Porcelain veneers: ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 per tooth

Thin shells made in a lab and bonded to the front of the teeth.

  • Good: the most natural light and translucency, resists stains, lasts 10 to 15 years or more.
  • Trade-off: a thin layer of enamel is removed, which is permanent, and it takes two or three visits.

Zirconia veneers: ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 per tooth

  • Good: the strongest option, well suited to people with a heavy bite or who grind their teeth.
  • Trade-off: slightly less translucent than porcelain.

Ultra-thin porcelain (minimal preparation): ₹22,000 to ₹30,000 per tooth

  • Good: little or no enamel removed.
  • Trade-off: only suits teeth that are already well shaped and well positioned.

Which suits which goal

  • A quick change before an event, or a chipped edge: bonding is often enough, and costs the least.
  • A result you want to last 15 years and stay stain-free: porcelain is worth the extra.
  • You grind your teeth or have a strong bite: zirconia, usually with a night guard.
  • Teeth that are already straight and only need colour or small shape changes: ultra-thin porcelain, or whitening alone.

Sometimes the best first step is not a veneer at all. Whitening (₹3,000 to ₹12,000) or a short course of aligners can make veneers smaller, fewer, or unnecessary.

What about metal allergy?

True allergy to dental materials is uncommon. All the options above are metal-free. If you have a known allergy to any material, tell us at the consultation so the plan can allow for it.

Full smile makeovers

When several teeth are involved, the price depends on the material. A touch-up with whitening and bonding on one to four teeth costs ₹11,000 to ₹36,000. A composite makeover across the front teeth is about ₹50,000 to ₹80,000. Porcelain veneers on six to eight teeth cost ₹90,000 to ₹2,00,000. See the smile design cost guide, or the porcelain veneers and dental bonding pages.
